Let’s talk about “that kid”. The one who takes up so much more time and energy than all of your other clients/students put together. The one who: acts completely differently at school versus home; can’t calm down once s/he’s upset; blows out of foster homes or placements or classrooms; lies to your face- and smiles; hides food in odd places; and doesn’t respond to anything in therapy.
Let’s talk about how new research can get you unstuck with “that kid”.
Exciting new discoveries about how the human body and brain process trauma will be explored. We will explore how to translate this new understanding of how the brain and body interpret trauma and how you can effectively intervene. The use of movement, mindfulness, and art media in trauma therapy with children will be discussed- and practiced! Come ready to move!
